The Beauty Within

What do you see when you look at my photo?

A face, clothes, a moment in time. What you don’t see is that I am a highly sensitive person. And that is exactly what I want to show. But what does that actually mean? Simply put, it means that my senses are often tuned a little more sharply. I notice a lot: the atmosphere in a room, emotions, changes in my environment, and the needs of the people around me.

My brain processes stimuli deeply and thoroughly. In the past, I thought it meant I was “too sensitive.” That I shouldn’t worry so much or take things so personally.

I now know that there is nothing wrong with the way I experience the world. My high sensitivity helps me listen attentively and sense what is really going on.  I often notice details that others miss. It helps me connect with people and view situations from different perspectives.

At the same time, this personality trait also asks something of me. I have learned that scheduling time for myself to recharge helps me stay balanced. My sensitivity may not be visible on the outside, but it is something I feel deeply within.

That is my beauty within.
